In Karachi, cell phone services have been turned off on “specific routes” as part of stringent security protocols for the visit of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to the port city.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced in a statement that, per the Ministry of Interior's instructions, cellular services will be unavailable on a few designated routes in Karachi from 3 p.m. on April 23 to 8 a.m. on April 24.
"This decision is being taken to ensure the security of the dignitary’s visit to Karachi," said the organization.

In order to prevent annoyance to the public, the authorities not only suspended mobile phone services but also shuttered the city's main thoroughfares and observed a public holiday.
The authorities devised a thorough security strategy that included a significant citywide deployment of law enforcement officers.

According to a Karachi Police spokesperson cited by the state-run APP earlier today, 3,847 police officers and officials have been mobilized to guarantee the foreign dignitaries' protection and peace of mind while they are in Karachi.

The spokesperson disclosed that security professionals have been deployed around the city, with 345 policemen and staff stationed in District East, 164 in District West, and over 300 in District South.

In addition, more than 300 officers from the Special Branch and 1,500 traffic cops have been given security responsibilities.

Snipers have been placed strategically at key spots across the city to bolster security measures.

The representative underlined that the Karachi Police are dedicated to maintaining safety standards and that every effort is being made to carry out their responsibilities of protecting the visiting delegations as best they can.

Karachi's stringent security measures demonstrate the city's commitment to provide foreign dignitaries with a safe and secure environment, which aligns with the city's continuous attempts to enhance positive ties with these visitors.
